Privacy Policy

This policy describes how CanadianInternetMarketingAssociation.com handles personal information. We follow the principles set out in Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Who we are

CanadianInternetMarketingAssociation.com (referred to as "CIMA", "we", "us") is an independently operated Canadian marketing resource and referral website. We are not a government body, regulator, or certification organisation, and we are not affiliated with internetmarketingassociation.ca.

What we collect

We collect personal information in three situations:

  1. When you submit the request-help form at /request-help.html: your name, business name, website, email address, phone (optional), city, province, the service you need help with, your approximate budget, your timeline, and your message.
  2. When you run the free website review at /audit.html: the URL you enter. We do not store this URL — it is used once to generate the report and is not retained by us.
  3. When you email us at the address on our contact page: whatever you choose to include, typically your name, email, and the contents of your message.

How we use it

Information you submit through the request-help form is used to respond to you by email. If you've asked for an agency referral, we may share the relevant parts of your request (your situation, business type, location, budget, timeline) with one or two Canadian agencies that handle work like yours, so they can decide whether to reach out. We do not share contact details with anyone you have not authorised us to share them with — we describe your situation and let you choose whether to engage.

Information you email us is used only to respond to your enquiry. We do not add anyone to a mailing list, and we do not have a newsletter.

Hosting, logs, and technical cookies

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may set technical cookies and store request logs for security and performance purposes (for example, to detect abusive traffic). These do not identify individual users for marketing purposes. Cloudflare's own privacy practices are described in their published privacy policy.

The free website review tool runs entirely on our Cloudflare worker — we do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking pixels on this site. Lead-form submissions are logged temporarily in Cloudflare for diagnostic purposes.

Agency referrals and referral fees

When we refer a business owner to a Canadian agency, that agency may pay us a referral fee if you become their client. This relationship is disclosed here and does not change what you pay the agency. We will not refer you to an agency we don't think can plausibly help, and you are under no obligation to engage with anyone we suggest.

Featured agency listings

The agencies featured on the agencies page are listed on an editorial basis. The page contains publicly available information about organisations, not individuals. If you operate one of the listed agencies and want a change or removal, contact us.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct inaccuracies, and to withdraw consent for our continued use of that information. To exercise these rights, email [email protected].

Retention

We retain help requests and contact emails for as long as the matter is open, plus a reasonable period afterwards for our own records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we will update the date below. The current version applies to all information we receive as of that date.
